Basic Information

2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Reason why I bought this car

To replace the previous Generation Camry that got damaged in an accident and to take advantage of the tax exemptions for locally-assembled hybrid vehicles at that point of time.

Car selection process

  • I had a budget of: 170000

  • Models that I have considered include: Honda Accord

  • Reasons why I chose this car:
The reason for me choosing this car is because i have enjoyed driving the previous generation Toyota Camry 2.4 (2009). I have always had a good impression with Hybrid cars and have heard of a great deal of mileage one can save while driving one. Not to mention there was an hybrid tax exemption at that point of time. Hence the launch of the 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid came at the right time and was my choice of car at that point of time.

User Experience

I have already done 98000km. My average fuel consumption is 13L/km.

Since the purchase, my thoughts about the car are: This car in my opinion is a good car to drive, its saves a heck lot of petrol especially while driving in the city. The car is nice to drive as it has a good acceleration response. It is also a quiet, comfortable and spacious car that can comfortable drive 5 people as it has sufficient leg room. The maintenance in my opinion is cheap and reasonable. The only down side i can think of this car is that they use allot of light and flimsy plastic for the trims, buttons, and controls exterior light housing.

Pros

  • Fuel Efficient

  • Mantainence is affordable/cheap

  • Comfortable and Spacious Cabin (both front and back)

  • Instant acceleration response

  • Quiet when driving slowly

  • Has Helpful Lane/blindspot assist

  • Wireless phone charger (QI) and air purifier (Nanoe) installed.

Cons

  • Keyless unlock only works on the drivers side

  • Entertainment System is complicated to get your phone synced.

  • More flimsy plastic trims, buttons and controls.

  • Changing The EV battery can be costly

Summary of my story in one paragraph:

I have decided to purchase the 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid because i have enjoyed driving the previous generation Toyota Camry 2.4 and it also comes with a tax exemption. The car is great to drive because it is fuel efficient, quiet, spacious and have sufficient power. The maintenance is also reasonably cheap in my opinion. One of the drawbacks i feel is the excessive use of flimsy plastic trims make the car feel less premium. Overall i have enjoyed driving this car.

Lastly:

After Driving my car for more than 6 Years, there was a problem with my EV Battery, fortunately there was a 8 year battery warranty and the replacement is covered by Toyota UMV Malaysia. Luckily on my end i had fully service my Camry with Toyota official Dealership even after the car warranty and servicing provided has ended.

This is highly recemmonded by Toyota official dealers as the servicing of EV car outside by non experience external workshops can cause the complication with the EV Drive train and also possibly void your EV Battery warranty. On my end the battery changed went smoothly.
