Reasons why I bought this car (purpose) :

5 people. All are adults with long leg. So MPV is a perfect vehicle for my family car instead of sedan especially for long distance.

Car selection process:

I had a budget of :RM200K

Models that I have considered include :Toyota Alphard & Nissan Elgrand

Reasons why I chose this car :

To be honest, at first, Toyota Vellfire is not in my list at all. When I was living in Brunei DS, I went to a Nissan showroom, the Elgrand really caught my eye. It looks luxury. From my point of view, Nissan Elgrand has a better appearance than Toyota Vellfire. The Vellfire look “kotak” for me. My uncle has a Toyota Estima, it looks 100x better than Vellfire. The first time I saw the Vellfire when I was having a vacation in KK. The car parked next to my car at the hotel. And I said “not bad… especially the front head light, look luxury lah.”

Few years later, I left Brunei and came back to Malaysia. I can see lot and lot of Vellfire on the road. Wow, this car have really won the hearts of Malaysian people. Almost everyone around me have Vellfire. And also Alphard. It’s very hard to find Elgrand in Malaysia to remind me about my feeling towards Elgrand. And one day, I decided to go to Penang to have a look at the Vellfire or maybe Alphard. But I prefer Vellfire because of the front headlight looks “garang”. Before this, I only know the exterior of the vellfire. But when I started to open the door and looked at the interior…

Wow !! ๐Ÿคฉ Wow !! ๐Ÿคฉ Wow !! ๐Ÿคฉ I’m sorry, but I have forgotten about Nissan Elgrand or Toyota Estima. Doesn’t matter how beautiful their exterior are compared to this Vellfire. The interior look very luxury like “giler ah ! I have changed my first thought about the Vellfire. It’s no more “kotak”. And it looks luxury and sporty from outside.”

And the pilot seat just wow !! If you are planning to buy an Alphard or Vellfire, but not with Pilot seat, I suggest to consider other models from other brands as well. What’s an Alphard and Vellfire without pilot seat ? But that’s just my personal opinion. Other people may have different reason for buying a vellfire or an alphard.

User experience :

I have already done 141117 km. My average fuel consumption is 8.5L/100KM.

Sitting for a long time in a car is always tiring and sometimes can give us leg or back pain. But with the right choice of vehicle, we can avoid all that kind of problems. That’s why people willing to pay for a first class seat in an airplane instead of economy class although they are both heading to the same destination. A 12 hours flight can feel like 4 hours flight because of how comfortable the seat is. This is the same reason why i bought this Toyota Vellfire. It has a very comfortable “Pilot Seat” that can make us feel like in an airplane first class or in a limousine. Or the best way to describe it, it feels like home. Huge space for myself. I can stretch my leg all the time. And i can lie all the way down like on my bed at home.

Ohh… Another thing… What to expect from a big and heavy car like this? Of course it must be slow lah. Just imagine this car to overtake another car in a small road, we have to press the pedal to the ground and the car will give out a very ugly forced engine sound. But not with this 3.5L engine Toyota Vellfire. It’s very powerful. “Giler punya powerful”. Just press the pedal and it will go very fast just like how I want.

Pros of my car :

  • Very powerful, fast to accelerate
  • Very spacious
  • This car is already more than 10 years old, but the technology is not so outdated
  • Very comfortable
  • Pilot seat will make me feels like home
  • Look luxury and sporty

Cons of my car :

  • Consume lot and lot of fuel. But I shouldn’t really complaint much about this because this is the first thing an owner should know before buying this car
  • Lot of people drive new Vellfire and Alphard which will make me feel like driving an old car
  • Roadtax very expensive. Same thing, can’t complaint much about this. It’s 3.5 engine.

Ratings :

Total score : 5

Performance : 4

Quality & features : 4

Space : 5

Ride comfort : 5

Fuel economy : 2

Price & cost : 3

Summary of my story :

Although it’s already over 10 years old car, but driving it doesn’t feel like driving an old car. The performance and quality are SUPERB ! I’m not planning to buy a new Vellfire just yet because this car is still relevant and steady to be on the road and there’s not much different for this Vellfire compare to the new Vellfire.

Event :

Had a good time being driver to my cousin on her wedding day in this luxury Vellfire. Don’t have to rent a limousine for the wedding or any special occasion. This car is perfect enough.
