Spied: This is the 2024 Toyota Vios GR Sport, to share hybrid powertrain with Yaris Cross; arriving next year

It's existence has long been confirmed, and now first images of what could be the 2024 Toyota Vios with a hybrid powertrain have been spotted – courtesy of readers of Thai portal Headlight Magazine.

Note the obfuscation on the lower side of the door

Sporting black wrap on the front and rear bumpers lends further credence to the website's claim that the powertrain debuts on the Vios GR Sport variant; which also means there will be tweaked aesthetics for the model. These set of pictures show a ducktail spoiler, a more aggressive diffuser round the rear, and a (hybrid?) badge by the front doors.

On the powertrain front, it's likely to share a hybrid system with the DNGA-based Toyota Yaris Cross that's set for a Thai introduction next month. The SUV runs off the 2NR-VEX 1.5-litre engine (91 PS and 121 Nm) working in tandem with a 80 PS/141 Nm electric motor and a high voltage battery.

The 2024 Toyota Vios hybrid is due to be introduced within the first quarter of 2024, likely to sit at the top of the range in Thailand before being introduced to other ASEAN markets thereafter.
