Following months of teasers and spy shots, the 2025 Porsche 911 facelift is finally here. The new models take the iconic sports car into new territory with the release of the first-ever 911 Carrera GTS Hybrid (HEV), launched alongside the base 911 Carrera models. Both models also receive notable updates in interior and exterior desgin as well as technology.

Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model lines stated, “We developed and tested a wide variety of ideas and approaches to arrive at the hybrid system that would suit the 911 perfectly. The result is a unique drive that fits into the overall concept of the 911 and significantly enhances its performance.”

Introducing the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Hybrid

The new 911 Carrera GTS Hybrid marks a groundbreaking moment as the first street-legal 911 equipped with a performance hybrid system. Inspired by Porsche’s motorsport learnings, it retains the same 3.6-litre flat-6 Boxer engine as before but now combines an electric exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric motor integrated into the transmission.

Dubbed the ‘T-Hybrid’ system, it features a newly developed electric turbocharger with an electric motor placed between the compressor and turbine wheel, which can instantly spool up the turbocharger even when exhaust gases are inadequate. The electric motor in the exhaust gas turbocharger also functions as a generator, producing up to 15 PS of electric power. This system requires no wastegate and uses a single turbocharger instead of the previous two for better response.

Additionally, there is a 54 PS/150 Nm electric motor integrated into the updated 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK), aiding the engine right from idle speeds. Porsche couples both electric motors to a lightweight and compact high-voltage battery, comparable in size and weight to a conventional 12-volt starter battery but storing up to 1.9 kWh of energy (gross) and operating at a voltage of 400 V. The system also includes a lightweight lithium-ion battery for the 12-volt onboard electrical system.

Total output now reads 541 PS and 610 Nm of torque, up from 480 PS and 570 Nm. The hybrid GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 312 km/h. Despite the integration of hybrid technology, the weight increase is minimal, adding only 50 kg compared to its predecessor.

The suspension has also been upgraded, featuring rear-axle steering as standard, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), and a sports suspension with variable damping.

The 911 Carrera facelift

The base 2025 911 Carrera facelift gets an updated 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-6 Boxer engine, now delivering 394 PS and 450 Nm of torque (up from 385 PS, torque unchanged), improving acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (or 3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono package) and achieving a top speed of 294 km/h.

The Carrera benefits from a redesigned intercooler and turbochargers, optimizing both performance and emissions.

Exterior and interior Design Updates

The 2025 911 facelift brings refined exterior design elements aimed at improving aerodynamics and aesthetics. The 911 features a new front bumper with larger cooling vents and matrix LED headlights with integrated light functions. The Carrera GTS models boast additional active cooling air flaps and adaptive front diffusers for enhanced performance.

Optional exterior upgrades include 7 different wheel designs, including Exclusive Design wheels with carbon blades for reduced drag. A sports exhaust system is available for the Carrera models, while the Carrera GTS comes standard with a sports exhaust system. An optional aero kit enhances the car's aerodynamic performance with a unique front spoiler, side sill panels, and a fixed rear wing.

Inside, the 911 facelift models sport a fully digital cockpit with a 12.6-inch curved display and a high-resolution 10.9-inch central display for the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system.

The interior can be configured as a 2-seater or a 2+2-seat configuration at no extra charge. Connectivity features include Apple CarPlay, video streaming when parked, and new native apps such as Spotify and Apple Music integrated into the PCM system.

Technology and Safety Enhancements

The 2025 911 models are also equipped with high-resolution matrix LED headlights that offer functions such as dynamic cornering lights, lane brightening, and precise non-dazzling high beams.

The upgraded PCM system simplifies connectivity with a QR code for easy login and enhanced customisability of driving modes and driver assistance systems.

Porsche has opened its order books for the new 911 Carrera and Carrera GTS models in selected markets. The 911 Carrera is available as a Coupé and Cabriolet with rear-wheel drive, while the Carrera GTS offers additional options of all-wheel drive and the Targa body variant.

Closer to home, the outgoing Porsche 911 (992) was first launched in Malaysia back in 2019, initially available as the Carerra S (C2S) with prices starting at RM 1.15 million while the Carerra 4S model was priced at RM 1.22 million. Both prices include a four-year warranty and complimentary maintenance, covering both parts and labour.
