The 4-door saloon received a facelift in 2005 which hasn't brought any major changes except the introduction of a new engine version. Following the likes of powerful BMW and Mercedes executives, Peugeot strapped on a new 2.7 HDi V6 200 hp engine coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission for increased ride smoothness. In order to cater for Gasoline fans as well, the new automatic transmission was later introduced on the petrol version as well. Despite its looks and features, the 607 failed to pass with honors EuroNCAP tests which indicated the driver as being the most prone to serious injury.
