There's many reasons to tune exhausts. Lexus tuned the exhaust of their LFA supercar to match some resonant frequencies of the chassis. The idea is that at some engine speeds (RPMs) the whole car is in tune, this is done for driver involvement and enjoyment. Often, you can tune exhausts to achieve desirable performance characteristics. The Honda Fit has an exhaust system that's designed to heat up quickly so the catalytic converter (a device that helps to change the composition of a car's emissions) reaches operating temperature quickly. The Honda Accord's exhaust routing is chosen to help the transmission heat up quickly on cold starts so it can perform properly and lower fuel consumption. Mercedes Benz tuned the exhaust on the E63 AMG to "pop". Many people who are in a position to buy an E63 AMG right now grew up listening to and pining for fast old cars which used to "pop" when uncombusted fuel from the engine's exhaust ignited in the tailpipe of a car. Mercedes did this to make the E63 more special to people since the popping is a unique and in my own opinion, a very nice thing to listen to. Motorcycle and race car manufacturers use this idea, "http://www.fmfracing.com/Products/MX/44" to extract more performance from their engines. Technical details are left to the reader since it's very leading edge and hyper-technical/arcane stuff. One last example of a tuned exhaust is all sorts of turbocharged cars. The car's exhaust gases spin the turbocharger. As the turbos get harder and harder to spin, the engine needs to driver larger and larger pressures to spin the turbo. If it's too hard, you run in to backpressure issues and the engine doesn't work right. Exhaust is a tricky thing and one of the thousands of variables that automakers must be mindful of.
I noticed a rattling sound from under my car somewhere on the exhaust. I took my 2002 Honda Accord with 170,000 miles to a trusted independent mechanic I had ben going to for 4 years. He showed me that the exhaust pipe was rusting away at the connection to the catalytic converter and the entire pipe including the cat and muffler must be replaced because there is not enough surface to re-weld the broken joint. He quoted $850. I said forget it. I drove to a nearby family owned muffler shop, Velasquez, in Elgin Illinois. They quoted $40. It was done in 15 minutes. That was 3 years ago and the weld is still perfect.
Yes they do though Honda did not broadcast that it has the I-Vtec system in its Earth dream engine
By far and away, the Mustang II is the least-liked Mustang. As others have stated so well, it was not true to character for the Mustang line. It was built on the Pinto platform, with a 4-cylinder engine, or an anemic V6 or choked-down 302 V8. It was odd and weird looking. It used far more plastic than previous Mustangs. It was styled in a lot of color-keyed vinyl, rubber and urethane, like many of the larger Ford products. In short, it abandoned its sporty roots and was a churched up Pinto. At the time, Ford sold a bunch of Mustang II’s as they were affordable, still carried the Mustang name and delivered good fuel economy. The rack and pinion steering was well-designed and precise and with some additional optional plastic pieces, like spoilers, scoops and flares, it looked somewhat acceptable for the time. Today, almost none of these survive and there are few collectors who seek them out. A second “least liked” Mustang model is the brand new Mustang Mach E. The Mach E is a four-door electric crossover. It shares nothing with any Mustang models. No styling cues, no raucous rebellious exhaust note, no sporty 2-door fastback layout and no aggressive stance. It’s like a Honda Accord Crosstour with an electric motor. Why Ford chose to attach the infamous Mustang name to this vehicle is a mystery. Simply calling it a ‘Mach E” would be fine, but in a shortsighted way, Ford marketing geeks threw the Mustang name on it, probably trying to capitalize on the legendary reputation. The problem is, buyers aren’t that stupid. It cheapens the name and diminishes the vehicle’s impact.
The headers might give you a few, the cat back probably nothing, the cold air intake will reduce it by more than the headers gain. Just leave it alone.
So, I would ask you… what is a “3-month Honda Accord?” You asked: On a 3-month Honda Accord, is the exhaust manifold in the front facing the radiator or underneath the car?
Just give up. Please never ask another automotive question. Everything about it is wrong. Honda doesn't make Kias or a Spectra. The Spectra was only produced from 2000-2009. The exhaust manifold could either face the radiator or the firewall, under the car is not an option unless it's something like a Subaru. Just stop wasting everyone's time, server load and bandwidth with nonsense. When you have a LEGITIMATE question that hasn't been asked and answered 1000 times here, by all means do it.
The exhaust manifolds are in the front facing the radiator on the 4 cylinder engines and on both side on the 6 cylinder engines. Good luck and hope this helps.
Neither. Due to the fact you need a MR. Fusion to get it to 1867 they shifted it in the 4th dimension to make room.
Speaking only of North American models here, particularly US market cars. 12 years old, so a 2007, 7th-generation Accord (2003–2007) or 2008, 8th-generation (2008–2012). Assuming it’s not a V6 model, both of these had K-series Inline 4-cylinder engines mounted in reverse compared to the E, A, B, F, and H-engines installed in the earlier generations. These early K-engine cars have the exhaust manifold facing rearward, between the engine and the firewall. Later, Honda redesigned the engine bay of the Accord, switched from a Double Wishbone front suspension to McPherson Struts, and shortened the wheelbase by one inch for the 2013 model year, and the K-engines installed in the 9th-generation Accords (2013–2017) and 10th-generation (2018-present) were turned around and the angle changed, so they are once again oriented with the exhaust facing the radiator. As all Accords are front-wheel-drive, the V6-equipped examples, first offered on the 5th-generation 1995 model year have transverse mounted V6 engines with an exhaust manifold forward and behind the engine.
