As of June 2020 Honda Malaysia has received 920 bookings of the 2020 Honda Accord. This has allowed the Accord to maintain its dominance in the D-segment sedan market for the first half of 2020 making up 40 percent of the market share. 

To break down the sales, the range-topping 1.5-litre VTEC Turbocharged Premium (TC-P) is the most popular variant amongst buyers as it makes up 78 percent of the model’s sales number.

Unsurprisingly, the Platinum White Pearl is the colour of choice even though it is cost just a smidge more than standard colours. The Platinum White Pearl colour sales accounted for 33 percent on the total bookings.

Of course, the Accord is most popular in the Central Region with 42 percent of bookings making up the sum of the sales. The Southern and Northern region follows at 23 percent and 19 percent bookings respectively.

Honda Malaysia is attributing the Accord’s popularity to several factors, one of which is the introduction of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) exemption by the Malaysian government under the National Recovery Economic Plan (Penjana).

Other than that, Honda also believes that many would also prefer to drive a car of their own during the time of crisis as bookings for the Accord spiked during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

And, of course, the car itself is an all-rounder that would fit the requirement of many. The all-new tenth-generation Accord features a new classier posture both on the inside and outside and is powered by a 1.5-litre VTEC turbocharged engine that produces 201 PS and 260 Nm of torque.

The Accord is also packed with plenty of features such as a full suite of Honda Sensing safety systems and Smart Parking Assist System with Brake Assist for the rear. It also features Honda LaneWatch to further add to the driver’s convenience when changing lanes.

To date, Honda Malaysia has already delivered 500 units out of the 920 bookings of the Honda Accord.
