Abdul Hamid: ,Havaldar Abdul Hamid Param Vir Chakra (PVC) was a soldier in the 4th Battalion, The Grenadiers of the Indian Army, who was martyred in the Battle of Asal Uttar in Indo-Pak 1965 war, and was awarded PVC posthumously. On 10 September 1965 at 0800 hours, a battalion of Pakistani armour supported by Patton tanks attacked the 4th Grenadier positions but was unable to locate the battalion's defences. The attack preceded by intense artillery bombardment to soften the target and to garner a heavy fire in an attempt to draw Indian response. By 0900 hours, the enemy tanks had penetrated the forward company positions. In the melee, Hamid saw a group of Pattons heading towards his battalion defences. Seeing the gravity of the situation, he moved out to a flank with his gun mounted on a jeep. Intense enemy shelling and tank fire did not deter him. There goes an old saying among the Jats: "He who remembers his Jat history, honours his parents and ancestors. He who forgets his Jat history, spits on his parents and ancestors." Therefore, in Jat custom to learn and remember your history is to honour your family, parents and your ancestors. Without whom you would have never existed. To forget them, is to dishonour them and to be ungrateful for everything they have given to you, including your life. Jats are commonly considered to be of, Indo-Aryan, stock in view of the similar ethnological, cultural, physical features, and common practices.,Sir Herbert Risley ,mentioned in 1901 census report that as per their physique, Jats are pure Aryans,.The Jats has been declared by all eminent authorities, to pass successfully the combined test of the physical type and language of true Aryan. C.V.Vaidya in History of Medieval Hindu India writes that-“Lastly we have to speak about the Jats. Their ethnological characteristics also we have already seen, are clearly Aryans. They are fair tall high nosed and long headed. Does their history contradict of their being Aryans ? ….. They are the ,purest Aryans in India, and belong to the first race of Aryans invaders according to our view the solar race of Aryans. ….” James Tod, on the basis of earlier historical evidence enlisted them in the list of ,Thirty Six Royal Races of India. The mythological account of ,Origin, of Jats from, Shiva's Locks, was propounded by the author of Deva Samhita. Deva Samhita, is a collection of Sanskrit hymns by Gorakh Sinha during the early medieval period. There is mention of Jats in Deva Samhitā in the form of powerful rulers over vast plains of Central Asia. When Pārvatī asks Shiva about the origin of Jats, their antiquity and characters of Jats, Shiva tells her like this in Sanskrit shloka-15 as under: महाबला महावीर्या, महासत्य पराक्रमाःसर्वाग्रे क्षत्रिया जट्टा देवकल्पा दृढ़-व्रता: Meaning - ",They are symbol of sacrifice, bravery and industry. The Pundits of history did not record their annals lest it should injure and impair their false pride of the vipras and gods. We describe that realistic history before you." Jat people find a mention in most ancient Indian literature like Mahabharata and Rig Veda. Over sixty clans are named in the Rig Veda. In the Mahabharata as they are mentioned ‘Jartas’ in ‘Karna Parva’. The famous Sanskrit scholar Panini has mentioned in his Sanskrit grammar known as Aṣṭādhyāyī in the form of shloka as जट झट संघाते or “Jat Jhat Sanghate”.This means that the terms ,'Jat' and 'democratic federation' are synonymous. What is the name of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's father?
Ramji Maloji Sakpal (1838 – 2 February 1913) was the father of Dr. ,B. R. Ambedkar,, ,social reformer, and ,Major, ,Subedar, in British Army of ,British India,. Dr. Ambedkar’s ancestral village is Ambavade, five miles off Mandanged, a small town in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. His grand father Maloji Sakpal was a retired ,Havaldar, in the Bombay Army of the East India Company. He is said to have been allotted some land for acts of bravery in the battle field. Maloji had two children – Ramji (son) and Mira Bai (daughter). Like his father, Ramji also joined the army. He was an enlightened person who worked hard and attained proficiency in English language. He obtained Diploma in Teaching from the Army Normal School in Poona. Consequently, he was appointed as a teacher in the Army School. He served as Head Master and had attained the rank of Subedhar Major. The Sakpal’s belonged to the Kabir cult along with the ,untouchability ,(Mahar) tag attached. Ramji had 14 children, the 14th being Bhimrao (,Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar,). However only three sons – Balaram, Anandrao and Bhimrao – and two daughters – Manjula and Tulasa –survived. The Bhakti movement in Maharashtra had impressed the Sakpal’s family to imbibe its spiritual content, Ramji Sakpal brought up his children under strict religious atmosphere at time performing poojas and offerings with great devotion. Thus, during childhood Bhimrao used to sing devotional songs. Ramji Sakpal’s attitude towards his children was basically responsible to the all-around development of Dr. Amebdkar. Ramji was good in English and Arithmetic. He was a teetotaler and as mostly interested in his won and his children’s spiritual development.
