Ma

2021 Maxus D60 enters the Philippines - will Malaysians fancy a basic CR-V rival?

To some of us Malaysians, Maxus is pretty much an obscure brand that's mostly known for their range of commercial vehicles and a pick-up truck. But they also make nice SUVs, such as this 2021 Maxus D60 that was recently launched in the Phillippines. Before we go there, what's Maxus? Maxus is a Chinese company that purchased British van specialist LDV, whose core speciality were vans. Maxus now dabbles in commercial vehicles, SUVs, and MPVs. In Malaysia, their line-up comprises of an MPV (G10), a

Malah Proton tela

Japan too has a problem with cars driving against traffic

The problem of motorists riding/driving against traffic is not unique to Malaysia, although your Facebook feeds will give you that it’s a growing problem confined only to Malaysia. Yesterday, a 35-year old man in Japan was killed when his Honda N-Box was hit head-on by a Toyota Crown driven by a 78-year old man who was driving against traffic. The incident happened yesterday 6-January, at 12.40 am at the Nishimeihan Expressway in Yamatokōriyama city, in Nara prefecture. The younger driver died o

Our Ativa’s rattling sound is fixed! What was the problem? - Long-term review #6

It has been about two weeks of ownership with our Perodua Ativa. How have things been? Well, the rattling sound we mentioned previously had gotten really annoying. Every time we drove over abrupt irregularities on the right side, the sound became more and more apparent. We needed to take the Ativa to Sepang on Tuesday to check out some Malaysian-made electric car, so we held off going to the service centre until Wednesday. About two weeks of driving with that sound, we finally checked in at the

My MPV sliding doors are not working, what is the problem?

So, the sliding doors on your MPV decided to fail on you. It could be a Toyota Alphard, Toyota Estima, Toyota Sienta, Nissan Serena, Hyundai Starex, or a Kia Grand Carnival. Manual sliding doors are a lot easier to fix, but power sliding doors are a little bit trickier. Before you rush to any nearby workshop, you might want to check a few things. The solution is usually a lot cheaper than you think it is. 1. Sliding doors hard to open or close? Could be dirty tracks The sliding doors of an MPV m

2021 MG Extender facelift unveiled in Thailand – Enough to scare the Hilux and D-Max?

Launched in 2019, the MG Extender is the British-Chinese carmaker's attempt to persuade Thais for an alternative to the usual Toyota Hilux or Isuzu D-Max. The pick-up truck market is very big in the Kingdom after all, with nearly half of the new vehicles sold there in 2020 being a pick-up. A little under two years later, MG decided to give the Extender a facelift, and boy it looks striking indeed! Underneath, the Extender is a Maxus T60 that is available in Malaysia but unlike the Maxus, the MG

3-cylinder engine vibration, noise, and reliability: Still a problem?

In the recent years, we have welcomed some new three-cylinder engine cars to the world – the Nissan Almera 1.0 turbo, Honda City 1.0 turbo (Thailand), Proton X50, and more excitingly, the Toyota GR Yaris. Even Christian von Koenigsegg has channelled his genius into developing a 600 HP three-cylinder engine. With these developments however, some of us still remain very sceptical of them. We will never forget the underpowered three pots in tiny cars like the Perodua Kancil and Perodua Kelisa. Sure

The one problem with the G20 BMW 3 Series that BMW needs to fix

There is no doubt that about the BMW’s superior dynamics, which is far ahead of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4. We absolutely love the way it drives and sounds, even in the four-cylinder 330i. In terms of evolution of character, the G20 BMW 3 Series is closer to the more driver-focused E90 3 Series than the previous F30 model, which closer to the comfort-biased E46 than the sharper handling E90. The G20 BMW 3 Series is more spacious than the E90, without losing any of the excellent dr

2021 MG Extender facelift at Bangkok Motor Show - Can it extend into Hilux and D-Max sales?

Merely two years after it was unveiled, MG Thailand decided to give its sole pick-up model a facelift. In a market where the pick-up truck is literally king, it probably makes sense for the MG Extender to be given a facelift in such a short timeframe to boost interest. The MG Extender saw poor sales ever since it was introduced in 2019. Up until last year, MG sold around 5,800 units of the Extender – a large contrast to the six figures its major competitors have in the past two years. Also read:

Top Rank: What are the worst-selling cars in Malaysia?

Finding the perfect car is the motto here at WapCar but "perfect" can be pretty subjective. After all, sometimes you want a car that fits your personality. Instead of going for the safe option, you would choose an alternative for wanting to stand out. For example, choosing a Kia Picanto over a Perodua Axia, a Citroen C3 Aircross over a Perodua Myvi, a Renault Koleos over a Honda CR-V, or even a Toyota RAV4 over a BMW X1. Wait, that last one is more on price than sharing the same segment but you

It is no surprise that when it comes to preserving heritage models, Nissan comes up on top, as the Yokohama-based company has already introduced its Heritage Parts Program parked under the Nismo umbrella. Someone double parked and blocked you? No problem

All it took was 7 minutes and a group of Malaysians to lift a Toyota Wish that double parked and blocked a Perodua Myvi from coming out of its parking space. From the video, it appears that the Myvi driver got the attention of one passerby, who later got more help from other passersby. Amazingly, the group of men found lifts to lift the Toyota Wish and repositioned the MPV, allowing the Myvi to exit. Watch the full video here.

The problem we have with the new 2020 Perodua Bezza

With A.S.A 2.0 made available on the top spec and VSC now standard for the Premium X, the new facelifted Perodua Bezza sounds like it has received the smartest updates. Warning lights on your car, what do they mean?

How many of you are aware of the warning lights on your car's meter cluster? You're not alone if you don't have a slightest clue at all. Unsurprisingly, some of us choose to ignore the warning lights entirely until the car eventually breaks down, and by the time that happens, it is a little too late to cry. While some warning lights may seem unimportant, it’s good to know what they mean and how to react next. Usually, warning lights illuminate whenever there is a problem with one or more of your
