2020 Toyota new models – What’s coming soon

2020 Toyota Hilux, Toyota Fortuner

Following the debut of the updated luxury MPVs, we can expect UMWT to introduce the facelifted Hilux and Fortuner later this year.

This notion is supported by the fact that both updated models have been caught on Thai streets, indicating that Toyota is readying up these models for a likely 2020 debut.

2020 Toyota RAV4

Apart from these models, UMWT is also expected to introduce the all-new fifth-generation RAV4.

Sources within Toyota have indicated that Thailand could be in charge of assembling the RAV4, though it does not necessarily mean that units bound for the Malaysian market will come from Thailand as the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) require a minimum 60 percent of regional content to quality for import duty exemptions.

As such, it is possible for UMWT to import the RAV4 from Japan instead.

2020 Toyota GR Yaris

Last but certainly not the least, UMWT has also confirmed that the hot GR Yaris will be arriving here as well, joining the GR Supra as an enthusiast model.

Our friends over at CarSifu have revealed that the GR Yaris will be arriving here by 2021 in limited units, though we expect bookings to be opened in late-2020.

One can expect to pay close to RM 300k for the GR Yaris, or about RM 1,000 for every one of the 272 PS the 1.6-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder produces.

Toyota's Kinto is getting bored, finds a way to make the AH30 Alphard and Vellfire sliding doors close faster

You know how some cars can be truly fantastic except for one minor detail that you just can’t overlook and it ends up ruining the entire driving experience. It could be a terrible head unit or a bad seating position. Well, some of the engineers at Toyota’s Kinto subscription service thought that could be the abysmally slow speed of the sliding doors on the previous AH30 generation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire. Either that or they must be getting really bored over there. Or someone has secr

Review: BYD Dolphin in Malaysia - A solid choice for EV beginners, except for one thing

You might be aware that Malaysia prohibits the import of electric vehicles (EVs) priced below RM 100,000, and this is indeed accurate. The rationale behind this policy, driven by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), is actually sound when you consider their goal of attracting investments in the EV sector. In the world of technology, most of the valuable stuff is in the higher-end product range. Cheaper electric cars have minimal technological sophistication; they're kind of li
