Toyota has just launched the updated 2021 Toyota Camry in Japan, updating its D-segment sedan with new looks and improved safety.
Like the American and European model, the Japanese market Toyota Camry gets a restyled exterior that encompasses a new front bumper as well as mildly-updated tail lights. New wheel design round off the Camry’s exterior.
Japanese buyers also have the option of a sportier Camry WS. In addition to the sportier-looking front bumper, the Camry WS also gets a prominent rear diffuser and a bootlid spoiler. Depending on the variant, the Camry WS can also be had with a blacked-out roof and side mirrors.
Moving inside, the Japan market Toyota Camry now gets a floating-style 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, now with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
Other under-the-skin updates include the addition of Lane Tracing Assist and Driver Error Response System to the Camry's Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) ADAS suite. A 360-degree view monitor can also be had as an option on all but the X variant of the new Camry.
Powertrain-wise, the Japan-spec Camry is a hybrid-only model, meaning that it gets a 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain that does a combined system output of 211 PS. E-Four variants output slightly more power, offering a combined system output of 218 PS.
Japanese buyers are spoilt for choices when it comes to variants, as Toyota is offering 5 variants of the Camry there (X, G, G Leather Package, WS, WS Leather package), with each variant available either as a front-wheel drive model or AWD model.
Prices start from JPY 3,485,000 for the entry-level Camry X, topping out at JPY 4,474,000 for the WS Leather Package variant.
