The Toyota GR86, one of the most anticipated cars of 2021, will make a dynamic on-road debut this summer at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This is in conjunction with Toyota's plans to display its "Power of Three" trio of Gazoo Racing cars, namely the Toyota GR Supra, Toyota GR Yaris and now the Toyota GR86.
The GR86's apperance at this year's Goodwood Festical of Speed is to serve as an early public preview before the car goes on sale next year in the UK. Obviously, the GR86 will get to display it's tofu-delivering (I mean handling and agility) prowess in the hands of an expert driver.

Besides the driving demonstration, festival goers will be able to see the car up close and personal at the First Glance Paddock.
For this second-generation GR86 (it was called GT86 previously), it retains a classic front engine, rear-wheel drive configuration, and has a new 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder, boxer engine (235 PS, 250 Nm) with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic for transmission options.

Dimensions are almost identical to its predecessor, but a 50 percent increase in torsional rigidity helps achieve sharper handling and steering. It's also retains the lightweight philosophy of it's predecessor, weighing just 1,270 kg - just 40 kg more than the model it replaces.
In another twist of destiny, the GR86's predecessor, the GT86, also made a public appearance in Goodwood in 2012, before going on sale officially in the UK. It went on to become a firm favourite with sports car enthusiasts, appearing in various motorsports applications.
A sign of things to come? We hope that is indeed the case!
