UMW Toyota cuts prices by up to 6%, RAV4 now from RM 196k!

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), the distributor of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Malaysia today announced new prices for its vehicles beginning 15 June 2020, following the incentives provided to the Malaysian automotive industry announced by the Prime Minister.

“Toyota vehicles are now more affordable than ever. Customers should take this opportunity to upgrade or purchase a new Toyota. All relief from the new tax structure have been factored into the new pricing, considered in the best interest of our customers. Price changes vary between our CKD and CBU model line-up,” said Mr. Ravindran K.,  President of UMWT.

Vehicle prices have been reduced from between 1% to 6%. In addition to the above, Toyota also announced the new price with its latest monthly Sales Promotion and Rebates.

As explained in our earlier post, the 10 percent sales tax exemption for locally-produced cars is limited only to passenger vehicles. Commercial vehicles like the Hilux and Hiace are not eligible but Toyota has slashed prices for some variants on the Hilux anyway as part of its sales promotions.

Interestingly, prices of the Japan-made Toyota RAV4 have been reduced to RM 196,436 for the 2.0L and RM 215,665 for the 2.5L. The previous estimated price at 203,880 and RM 223,880 respectively.
