According to a document sighted by Bloomberg as reported by Automotive News Europe, emissions from new cars and vans in the EU will be required to fall by 65 percent from 2030 compared to this year’s levels, and by 100 percent from 2035.
Currently, the emissions goal in Europe is to reduce by 37.5 percent from 2030. Which means this new plan is quite a steep jump, and will reportedly be unveiled in the coming days.

Europe wants to be the first continent in the world to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. So the plan to accelerate the ban of combustion engine cars is Europe’s way of reaching that goal.
In the document, it also states that to help cope with the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, a regulation on alternative fuels will require member states to ensure electric charging points are installed every 60 km on major highways. Hydrogen stations would have to be available at the maximum interval of 150 km.
Carmakers such as Audi, Volkswagen, and Volvo have already announced plans to phase out combustion engine cars, some sooner than others, though generally by 2035. When the new regulations are implemented, we can expect more carmakers to make similar announcements.

The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
