GAC Toyota, Toyota’s distributor in China, has teased the pending launch of the all-new 2022 Toyota Frontlander. The Frontlander is the Toyota Corolla Cross’ twin in China and is expected to go on sale by the end of this year.
From what little we can see on the preview, the Toyota Frontlander is expected to look largely the same as the new Toyota Corolla Cross that was launched in Japan last month.

According to Chinese reports, the Frontlander is expected to mirror the Corolla Cross in terms of size. The regular Corolla Cross measures 4,460 x 1,825 x 1,620 mm in length, width, and height while the wheelbase measures 2,640 mm.
But one commentary noted that they wouldn’t rule out the possibility of GAC Toyota extending the Frontlander’s wheelbase to 2,700 mm.

The Frontlander will most likely be powered by a 1.8-litre hybrid engine that has a combined output of 122 PS. The hybrid engine is paired with an E-CVT.
Price-wise, the Frontlander is expected to fall in the bracket of CNY 120,000 (~ RM 78,000).
More details will be revealed in the coming months, so stay tuned for updates.
