With electric vehicles (EVs) being the current buzzword, it comes as no surprise that many manufacturers are pouring resources into EVs. One such manufacturer is Mitsubishi, which teased the Kei EV Concept. Think of the Kei EV Concept as a successor to the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the world's first series production EV.
The Kei EV Concept is set to debut at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, which will be held from 14- to 16-January 2022.
As Mitsubishi puts it, the new kei car embraces “Mitsubishi Motors-ness, founded on safety, security and comfort, as well as environmental-friendliness.”
We took liberty to adjust the brightness of the teaser photo that Mitsubishi provided and guess what, judging from the tail lights, it appears that the Kei EV Concept could either be an electrified Mitsubishi eK or Mitsubishi eKX – both kei cars share a similar tail light design, but with a vastly different front fascia.
Seeing that Mitsubishi is co-developing the Kei EV Concept with Nissan, we can also expect a Nissan-badged version to debut in the near future as well. Further adding credence to that is the fact that Mitsubishi is a contract manufacturer for the Nissan Dayz, the eK's twin.
