Prices confirmed: Malaysia-bound 2024 Mitsubishi Triton Athlete launched in Thailand; prices up 11%

Mitsubishi Thailand has announced the official prices of the all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton Athlete pick-up. Despite other variants going on sale in Thailand since mid-2023, only now have prices of the Triton Athlete been confirmed.

The range-topping Triton Athlete variant offers more power, additional styling bits and new connectivity features. Two variants are offered; bookings open today for Thai customers with the first batch of deliveries scheduled for late-February 2024:

  • Triton Athlete 2WD: from THB 1,125,000 (~RM 150k)
  • Triton Athlete 4WD: from THB 1,298,000 Baht (~RM 173k)

There’s an additional THB 10,000 (~RM 1.3k) premium for the White Diamond colour.

Prices have seen an increase of approximately 11 percent over the outgoing Triton Athlete variants. However, prices of other 2.4L double-cab variants have largely remained the same, like-for-like, ranging between THB 820k (~RM 109k) and THB 1,027 million (~RM 137k).

The major highlight is more power; dubbed the β€˜Hyper Power X2’ engine, the high-output version of the (4N16) 2.4-litre MIVEC two-stage turbodiesel four-cylinder now produces 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque, an increase of 20 PS and 40 Nm over the regular (184 PS/430 Nm) version featured in other Triton variants.

Power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, the only transmission option available.

The 4WD variant additionally features Super Select 4WD II – versus the Super Select 4WD – system featured in other variants, which allows drivers to quickly switch to the β€˜4H’ mode on wet roads for more traction. Otherwise, the Triton Athlete gets the same rear-differential lock, Active Yaw Control (AYC) and 7-drive modes as other 4WD variants.

The Triton Athlete also features an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system versus the hydraulic power steering fitted in other Triton variants. The turning radius remains the same at 6.2 meters.

Styling-wise, the Triton Athlete gets a front styling bar finished in black with smoke titanium accents, while the overfenders, door handle, tailgate handle and door mirrors are all finished in black. The Athlete also exclusively gets the Yamabuki Orange Metallic body colour in addition to the standard colours: Jet Black Mica, Graphite Grey and White Diamond.

On the inside, the Triton Athlete gets a suede-synthetic leather interior finished in black and orange and contrast (orange) topstitching on the dashboard and steering wheel.

The Triton Athlete is also equipped with Mitsubishi Connect telematics technology which supports remote vehicle control through an app. The system allows remote control of features such as the AC, door locking/unlocking and headlight activation. It also provides real-time vehicle information, such as fuel level, range, and tire pressure monitoring.

Other standard features include a 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 7-airbags, a 360-degree parking camera and Diamond Sense ADAS suite which includes ACC, Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Change Assist (LCA) and RCTA amongst others.
