THE TECHNOLOGY The technology that Tesla has produced is revolutionary. Whether you like the brand or not; you have to admit that they have brought some great ideas to the table, and their market share is very well deserved. You only have to take a look at their self-driving features - sure, they have their flaws; but they are the main car manufacturer that produces self-driving cars that you hear about on a regular basis. Tesla's continuous improvement with their technology has placed the company in the best possible place within the EV market. The Roadster is another great example of this. Elon Musk states that the Tesla Roadster is going to be 'the fastest roadcar in the world. Period'. Whether this statement will still stand now that the Bugatti Chiron has hit 300mph is debatable, but the base model of the Roadster is set to be over 250mph. On top of this, the technology that Tesla developed for the Roadster will make this car the first production car to accelerate from 0-60mph in under 2 seconds! We are talking about some eye-watering speeds here. ELON MUSK I am a fan of Elon Musk as he is not a 'standard entrepreneur'. He has the ability to come up with an idea that many car manufacturers would never consider, then make it a reality. Not to mention his unique way of presenting a media show. Compare Elon Musk to another CEO such as Apple's Tim Cook, he is much more informal and audience-friendly when interacting with people on Twitter - but in a way that allows him to still be respected by many top entrepreneurs. Elon Musk enjoys his 'memes'. And while I massively respect Tim Cook for his formal, yet interesting way of presenting; you have to consider the differences between the two characters. I can watch a whole presentation by both CEOs, and they can keep my full attention - however, Elon does it in a way that makes him seem more like 'the average person' which makes people naturally appreciate him more. Tim Cook, on the other hand, keeps the audience hooked with his 'what's going to happen next?' approach. And if that doesn't convince it up for you; look at the announcement of the Tesla Roadster in 2017. Elon Musk said "So, uh. Would you like to come up and... [looks at Roadster]" and invited the audience to take a look at the cars on stage. The applause he received for this explains why his brand and himself are so popular. THE 'THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX' APPROACH I hinted at this in the previous point when I mentioned Musk coming up with ideas that other manufacturers would never think of - and it's completely true. How many car manufacturers give you the option to watch YouTube, Netflix and play video games in your car while sat in a Tesco car park? The answer is likely just Tesla. Why is this something that people love? Because as technology moves forward, people want to treat their car as an electronic device - just like their phone, tablet or laptop. Tesla understand this is the case and seem to go out of the way to enhance the user experience. The interiors of Teslas may be slightly boring (others may call it minimalist), but I feel the user experience is just as important as the vehicle's design. Tesla have come out with concepts such as 'smart summon' to help retrieve your car with the click of your phone if you have heavy bags or a thunder storm threatening your hair. The technology isn't perfect by any means, but it is a great start. The impression that Tesla gives me is they think that user experience equals profit. Compare this to other manufacturers that will prioritise looks and performance in order to make money; I feel Tesla chose an option that is miles better than their competitors in terms of convicing people to purchase their products. THEY ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY... KINDA. There is the constant debate as to whether Tesla is an environmentally friendly company. In fact, my previous post about people hating Tesla involved a comment war regarding that very topic - dozens of people started a battle about renewable sources of energy. Tesla is in fact an eco-friendly company under certain circumstances. Assuming the power stations use 'clean energy', we really cannot deny that Tesla and other battery powered cars are the way forward. However, many people argue that Teslas are still bad for the environment as electricity can be generated via the burning of fossil fuels, and Lithium Ion batteries are not good for the environment in terms of production and waste. The argument is valid, and I am still stuck as to which side I'm on for the time being. Although, if we look at Tesla cars as 'what they are' rather than the power behind it - they have their intentions in the right place. We need to switch to a more environmentally friendly method of transport, and I believe Tesla and other manufacturers have made a good start. Let me know what you think in the poll towards the end of this post! THE BRAND We are approaching the 'real' part of the article - the part that is true within all of us at times. People love brands. Whether it is because you like iPhones over Samsung, Xbox over Playstation, or Tesla over Porsche; there is one thing for definite - humans love brands. We are all guilty of falling into the trap of preferring branded products at some point in our lives, but there can be a variety of reasons behind it. People may love Tesla because of the 'high-profile' stereotype that is often connected with the expensive American brand. Others may choose Tesla because they dislike rival products, such as the Porsche Taycan. And on top of all of this, people may love Tesla because it is the most popular trend at the moment. And while I don't personally fall into any of these points about Tesla as the brand, I know there are plenty of people who do. And this is all thanks to the genius marketing that Elon Musk and his team have used. Thanks for reading it :) Wishes from Spheroid Universe :)
