This Porsche gathering reminds us the joy of driving

Up in the north of Thailand, a yearly gathering of Porsche cars shows us the joy of driving through the picturesque landscapes and an epic adventure on roads less travelled. It is the perfect reminder to start planning our next road trip the moment MCO ends! 

Let’s face it, most of us have not driven our cars pass 90 km/h during the pass 6 weeks. We’ve probably only driven our cars once every week on a grocery run and we probably also haven’t refuelled our cars since the scramble to take advantage of cheap fuel prices at the start of MCO.

The short drive does nothing to satisfy our driver’s soul and most of us have probably forgotten what it’s like to drive up a B-road to enjoy the challenge of bends accompanied by picturesque landscape in search of an adventure.

Porsche’s latest issue of Curve magazine reminds us the joy of driving as they show us the beautiful wild of northern Thailand during an annual Porsche gathering.

The convoy is named Das Treffen, translates to The Gathering, and it was started in 2016 by Sihabutr Xoomsai, or Tenn to his friends. It is the first Porsche meeting in South East Asia and he specifically chose the route to allow the Porsche cars to unleash their full unembellished nature that is known of the Porsche brand.

Throughout the years, Das Treffen has grown in size and became an event that many Porsche owners in Thailand look forward to. It has even caught the attention of Curve magazine’s creator Stefan Bogner.

Bogner was so amazed by the drive that he and his team spent months in Thailand with the Porsche Taycan Turbo joining a number of Porsche 911s and came up with this amazing photo gallery.

MCO is soon coming to an end, Malaysians can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, this photo gallery is the perfect reminder to all of us about why we love driving. So what’s the location of your first road trip?
