    The new road tax structure for battery EVs (BEVs) announced today will be enforced starting 1-January 2026.   • MoT announces new road tax rates for BEVs - BYD Atto 3 owners to pay RM 160, starting 2026

    The Road Transport Department (JPJ), via the Ministry of Transport, has announced the new, revised road tax (legally it’s called Motor Vehicle License fee) rates for battery EVs (BEVs). Under the new structure, BEVs with power output of less than 100 kW is capped at RM 70. The first 50 kW will cost RM 20.
