CBU 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8G sold out in less than 1 week, orders to be converted for CKD variants

Despite what social media comments are saying, all 750 units of the fully-imported (CBU from Thailand) 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8G allocated for Malaysia have been sold out, less than one week after it was launched.

Deliveries of the 1.8G variant is immediate, while those who booked the 1.8V variant can only start receiving their cars from July onwards.

For now, Toyota dealers have been told to not take any more orders for the CBU 1.8G variant. Interested buyers are encouraged to convert their orders to the higher range 1.8V variant. 

Update: Dealers will continue taking orders for the 1.8G variant, but they will manage customers' expectations in terms of delivery period, which can only happen in the later part of this year, and it will be the CKD variant.

To refresh, the 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross replaces the funky-looking Toyota C-HR in this region. It is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.8-litre petrol engine with 139 PS and 172 Nm, mated to a CVT-type automatic.

Equipment list that is standard across the range includes leather upholstery, hands-free powered tailgate, 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, 360-degree panoramic view monitor and Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The Toyota Corolla Cross is priced at RM 124,000 (without SST, until 30-June 2021) for the 1.8G variant, while the 1.8V variant is priced at RM 134,000 (with SST).
