U-Turn: Police will still accept old MITI permit until 3 June 2021 01

In the latest development of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0 total lockdown standard operating procedures (SOP) noodle soup, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has announced a new U-turn. Officers will still be accepting the old authorisation letters until 3-June-2021.

Although the total lockdown is already in effect, PDRM officers at roadblocks have been ordered to allow a 3-day grace period for essential service staff to get their authorisation letters updated.

In a press conference today, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid revealed that many travelling today are still using the old letter.

When asked why they have yet to update their authorisation letters, the most common answer is that the new ones are still pending. Some have even said that they have just applied the night before.

"We have also advised them to go through their employers to apply for the new MITI letter or letter of authorisation from the respective ministries," he said, adding that once the grace period is over, police will proceed with issuing compounds.

At the time of writing, essential services employers are having a hard time logging on to MITI's CIMS 3.0 website to apply for their operational permits.

The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenโ€™s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
