There is no beating the Wuling Mini EV’s popularity, even in a cabriolet form. Wuling recently opened bookings for the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Cabrio and the response has been explosive as the company quickly received 100,000 pre-bookings within 72 hours.
In case you missed our previous photo post, not everybody who put in a booking during the pre-sale period will get to purchase the car. The Cabrio’s purchase is limited to a balloting system, so only those chosen will get to own the electric vehicle (EV).

In its official release, Wuling states that they will only be picking 200 customers on 21-September-2022. The Mini EV Cabrio will be delivered to these chosen few within 90 days of the completed purchase.
The Wuling Mini EV is based on the popular Wuling Hongguang Mini EV hatchback. However, it features two fewer seats to make space for the storage of the soft top.

While the soft top comes standard in black, buyers can opt to pick the optional red colour. Wuling has also added roll bars behind the seats for extra protection.
Other than LED light fixture updates, the convertible Mini EV is also slightly larger than the hatchback as it measures 3,059 x 1,521 x 1,614 mm in length, width, and height while its wheelbase measures 2,010 mm.

Measured based on the CLTC, the Mini EV Cabrio has a 280 km range which is 20 km less than the hatchback even though it has the same 26.5 kWh battery pack.
Judging by the response Wuling is getting for the cabriolet, you can expect the Mini EV to continue its sales momentum.
