Continental rolls out its latest comfort offering, the ComfortContact CC7

Fresh off the launch of the performance-oriented UltraContact UC7 in August 2022, Continental Tyres has released the latest flagship comfort tyre in its line of Generation 7 products, the ComfortContact CC7.

“Through our understanding of the market, we know that a key criterion for drivers in Asia Pacific is comfort, as compared to their Western and European counterparts. As a result, Continental has established a reputation for across our Asia-dedicated line of products for tyres that are quieter and more comfortable. The ComfortContact CC7 represents our flagship product in the comfort segment,” stated Dalibor Kalina, Head of Replacement Tyres Asia Pacific.

A tyre’s comfort parameters are typically measured through the vehicle’s Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) characteristics. Continental’s internal research states that tyres can be responsible for around 50 percent of noise when driving.

“When traveling at higher speeds especially, tyre to road noise and turbulence increase and become much more noticeable. Tyre noise is also becoming increasingly important factor for electric vehicles whose drive systems are barely audible. For both conventional petrol and electric vehicles, this means selecting the right comfort tyre is a crucial decision that can greatly improve in-cabin acoustics,” explained Bob Liu, Head of R&D Asia Pacific at Continental.

Their answer is the new ComfortContact CC7, upgraded with Comfort+ Technology that promises a smoother drive experience and a quiet ride for more moments of tranquillity and peace of mind.

“Given the distinct requirements of different customer bases as well as the demand of innovative technology, we dig deep to understand the needs of drivers in Malaysia and create product to fulfil these requirements,” added Andrea Somorova, Managing Director of Continental Tyre Malaysia.

To bring the ComfortContact CC7 to market, Continental assembled a global team of more than 30 engineers and experts that spent over 7,500 hours designing, simulating, building and prototype testing. In the process, they carried out more 500 tests under various road and laboratory conditions that covered a distance equivalent to circling Earth over 7 times.

Comfort+ Technology encompasses the ComfortContact CC7’s three key features, Z.E.N:

• Zero Shock Pattern
• Everflex Compound
• Noise Muter

The ComfortContact CC7’s Zero Shock Pattern features a unique tread pattern design that reduces shock from traditional blocks. It’s engineered to significantly reduces harshness even on bumpy and uneven surfaces.

The Noise Muter comprises two noise-reducing technologies that effectively reduce noise for better sound comfort. Firstly, the Noise Breaker 3.0 breaks up sound waves into smaller ones that prevents it from building up and traveling into the car cabin.

Secondly, Helmholtz Resonators, named after the German physicist who discovered the Helmholtz Resonance theory, are noise-absorbing chambers on the tyre’s pattern surface that draw in air waves, effectively absorbing noise frequencies before they can exit.

Besides focusing on comfort aspects, Continental’s engineers have also built in a long tyre life for the ComfortContact CC7 to withstand daily wear and tear. Whether it’s for short daily commutes or long-distance road trips, the Everflex Compound is a resilient all-season compound that functions perfectly across a wide range of temperatures and seasons.

Compared to its predecessor, the ComfortContact CC6, the ComfortContact CC7 provides enhanced safety on the road though significant improvements in handling and braking without sacrificing on comfort and low noise levels.

The ComfortContact CC7 caters for rims with a width from 13-16 inched with various sizes that fit most popular models on the road.
