In case you missed it, Hyundai Motor Group recently completed their acquisition of mobile robot firm Boston Dynamic for USD 1.1 billion (RM 4.56 billion). To celebrate the occasion, Hyundai invited its global brand ambassador, BTS, to film a special tie-up with Boston Dynamic’s robots Spot and Atlas.
The video opens with a rather lost Spot wandering around a film studio. Spot came across Kid’s Nexo who guided the four-legged robot ‘dog’ into the studio where BTS was having a shoot.
After a brief introduction, the group then challenged Spot to a dance-off. Other robots built by Boston Dynamic like the humanoid robot Atlas also joined in, showing off its ability to copy the group’s dance moves as they groove to BTS’ Ioniq: I’m On It song.
Hyundai hopes that the special dance-off video would show off how Boston Dynamic’s robots are programmed to conduct physical movements and adapt them to daily life. In this video’s case, the robots were programmed to adapt to dancing along with BTS.
Through the new acquisition, Hyundai Motor Group has taken a major step in its transformation into a Smart Mobility Solution Provider.
Even before the acquisition of the mobile robot firm, Hyundai has already shown an interest in advanced robotics. Just last September, the company introduced the VEX (Vest Exoskeleton), a wearable robot that supports production line workers.

The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
