Chery's Jetour brand makes Malaysian debut - Dashing, X70 Plus launching in H2 2024

Chery’s Jetour brand has made its debut at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, showcasing the Dashing SUV as well as the X70 Plus, both are set to launch in Malaysia later this year in locally-assembled (CKD) form.

The Jetour Dashing is a five-seat SUV built on the Kunlun architecture. Two variants of the Dashing are available: Prime and Signature. Both are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm, delivered to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Prime variant comes with 18-inch wheels, while the Signature variant gets 19-inch wheels. Standard features for the Prime variant include powered tailgate, 6-way powered driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging.

Safety and driver assistance features in the Prime variant include reverse camera, ABS, EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and four reverse sensors.

The Signature variant builds on the Prime's offerings with additional features such as a panoramic sunroof, a four-way powered front passenger seat, and ambient lighting.

ADAS is equipped, including lane change assist, blind spot monitoring, lane change warning, rear cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree around-view monitor. The Dashing is available in five colors: Vanilla Blue, Khaki White, Star Black, Phantom Grey, and Tech Grey. Pricing details will be announced in the second half of the year.

Meanwhile, the Jetour X70 Plus is a 7-seat D-segment SUV, also set to arrive later this year, positioned to compete with the Proton X90 and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.

Both the Prime and Signature variants of the X70 Plus are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Both variants come equipped with LED headlights, roof rails, and 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, there’s a widescreen panel with twin 10.25-inch displays and a separate screen for air conditioning. Standard equipment includes six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger, powered tailgate, four speakers, and a 360-degree camera system.

The Signature variant adds a panoramic glass sunroof and memory seats for the driver. Standard features include four airbags and autonomous emergency braking, while the Signature variant adds blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and rear cross traffic alert.
