The Jaecoo J6 has been previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024. No further details were shared, but Jaecoo Malaysia plans to launch the battery electric vehicle (BEV) by this year.

Also known as the iCar 03, the J6 is part of Chery’s portfolio under the iCar sub-brand. For export markets, it uses the J6 name.

The Jaecoo J6 features black claddings all around, which is typical for a rugged off-roader. From the rear, it does give off the Land Rover Defender/Suzuki Jimny vibe. It also includes electric pop-out door handles, side-hinged tailgate, and roof-mounted solar panels.

The J6 measures 4,406 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height, with wheelbase of 2,715 mm. For context, the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door measures 3,985 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height, all enveloping a 2,590 mm wheelbase.

Unlike the J6 showcased in China, the Malaysian-spec J6 features design cues from the iCar 03, including its grille, illuminated ‘i’ logo on the lighting units, and the presence of a rear storage box.

In China, the iCar 03 offers rear- or all-wheel drive electric motor options with up to 279 PS of power. It features a 69.8-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from CATL, providing a range of up to 501 km per the CLTC standard.

The Malaysia Autoshow is scheduled to take place from 22- to 26-May 2024, operating from 10 am to 10 pm at MAEPS Serdang. Entry tickets are priced at RM 20 per person, with complimentary admission provided for children under 9 years old, senior citizens aged 60 and above, as well as individuals with disabilities (OKU).
