Not content on just making his mark on the football pitch, David Beckham has also swung hit boot at the automotive world. Lunaz, a firm specialising in EV conversions for classic cars, has just secured investment from the former England captain, as it looks to expand its product offering.
Said investment will see Goldenballs (that's his nickname, no really) receive a 10% stake at the Silverstone-based EV maker, which was founded in 2018. The company has lofty ambitions: by 2024, it aims to have created 500 high-skilled jobs for the public.
Said Beckham of his investment, "Lunaz represents the very best of British ingenuity in both technology and design, I was drawn to the company through their work restoring some of the most beautiful classic cars through upcycling and electrification.
“[Company founder] David Lorenz and his team of world-class engineers are building something very special and I look forward to being part of their growth.”
Lunaz's currently electrifies classic cars like the Rolls Royce Phantom V and Silver Cloud, Bentley Continental, Range Rover Classic and Jaguar XK120. Furthermore, the firm also plans to forge ahead with Lunaz Group, consisting of three divisions: Design (classic car), Applied Technologies (fleet vehicles) and Powertrain (powertrain design & manufacturing).
