The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will be launching a new e-testing system in April as part of its move to the digital era. The system will measure a candidate’s performance via an electronic driving test and generate test results in real-time.
According to Bernama, the automated driving test and training system are now in its proof of concept (POC) stage. JPJ director-general Zailani Hashim expects the system to be ready for launch during JPJ’s 76th celebration.
To be clear, the new system will not affect the class learning and road sessions. The only change is on the circuit session as the officer will not need to be in the car with the candidate.
Thanks to the tech gadgets that will be installed in the cars, the number of testers would be reduced as it only needs two testers compared to seven currently.
The system is already in operation in countries like Korea and Japan. Zailani claims that adopting the new system will boost efficiency and public trust in the driving licence testing system.
