Here it is, the BYD Dolphin is now launched in Malaysia. The EV is available in two different variants, the Dynamic Standard and the Premium Extended, priced at RM 100,530 and RM 125,730 respectively (OTR without insurance).
The Dolphin claims the title of the second most affordable EV in Malaysia, following the Neta V, which is priced at RM 99,800 (OTR without insurance).
Performance-wise, the Dynamic Standard variant is equipped with a single electric motor that generates 94 PS and 180 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 12.3 seconds.
This variant is powered by a 44.9 kWh BYD Blade Battery pack, providing a WLTP range of 340 km. The EV supports 7 kW AC charging and DC fast charging up to 60 kW.

The Premium Extended variant gets a more powerful electric motor outputting 204 PS and 310 Nm of torque, resulting in a quicker 0-100 km/h time of 7 seconds.
It comes with a larger 60.48 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP range of 427 km. Like the Dynamic Standard, the Premium Extended also features a 7 kW AC charger, but it can draw up to 80 kW from a DC fast charger.
One of the noteworthy functions of the BYD Dolphin is its vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing users to power external electrical appliances. To facilitate this, a V2L adapter is provided as standard, along with a portable charger.
Inside the Dolphin, the infotainment system boasts a 12.8-inch touchscreen, similar to the one found in the Atto 3, and a 5-inch digital instrument panel for the driver. Audio is delivered by a 6-speaker system, and the EV supports wired Apple CarPlay, though Android Auto is not mentioned.
In terms of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), the Dolphin is equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Support (LKS), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Change Collision Warning (LCW), and Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELKA).
The ADAS suite also includes Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Predictive Collision Warning (PCW), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Cross Traffic Brake (RCTB), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). Thereβs also High Beam Assist function that automatically switches between high and low beams based on driving conditions.
The BYD Dolphin is covered by a 6-year/150,000km warranty, while the high-voltage battery and drive unit are backed by an 8-year/160,000km warranty and 8-year/150,000km warranty, respectively.
Various components, including the multimedia system, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, charging port assembly, and more, enjoy a 3-year/60,000km warranty, while lights, Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) module, suspension, and ball joints are covered by a 4-year/100,000km warranty.
