Following the earlier announcement of the pricing for the Tesla Model Y in Malaysia, it was revealed on Tesla Malaysia’s website that the initial deployment of Superchargers in Malaysia will cover 10 locations.

Here is the list according to the "Find Us" section on the website:

Northern region

• Perai, Pulau Pinang
• Ipoh, Perak

Central region

• Petaling Jaya, Selangor
• Dengkil, Selangor
• Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur
• Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
• Two more undisclosed locations in Kuala Lumpur

Southern region

• Iskandar Puteri, Johor
• One undisclosed location in Negeri Sembilan

Tesla has stated on the website that the target opening dates for these Superchargers are yet to be confirmed and the list of Superchargers will be updated quarterly.

It remains to be seen which version of the Supercharger will be installed at these locations. The current V3/V4 can deliver up to 250 kW, matching the maximum charging rate of the Tesla Model Y.

What we do know is that for a car company like Tesla to operate in Malaysia without a local partner and still obtain Approved Permit (AP) for imports, the company must install a minimum of 50 DC fast chargers with a minimum power of 180 kW.

Of these, at least 30 percent or 15 chargers must be available for public use, accommodating electric vehicles from other brands. This is based on the requirements outlined in MITI’s BEV Global Leaders initiative.
