We’ve talked about the Uni-V sedan, now let’s talk about the Changan Uni-T crossover. Updated back in August 2021, the Uni-T is not just all about good looks, it also comes equipped with the latest AI technology with face recognition and a 5-star C-NCAP rating.
Measuring 4,515 x 1,870 x 1,565 mm in length, width, and height with a wheelbase of 2,710 mm, the Uni-T is much larger than the Honda HR-V and only slightly smaller than the Honda CR-V.
Interestingly, though the Uni-T is shorter than the CR-V, the smaller SUV has a longer wheelbase than the latter.

The Uni-T is the first car that Changan introduced as part of the Uni-Series. The design language can only be described as sharp thanks to the uniquely shaped frameless grille with equally sharp headlights. The SUV will definitely stand out in a sea of compact SUVs.

On the side, the view is largely dominated by the wheels. Changan offers the Uni-T with a choice of either 225/55 R19 or 245/45 R20 wheels, so it’s not surprising that the first thing that catches the eye are the wheels. Like the Uni-V sedan, the SUV also comes with hidden door handles.
From the rear, there is a slight resemblance with the Hyundai Kona though the Uni-T’s sharp taillights and angular features has an overall more harmonious look.
Inside, Changan has specifically designed the Uni-T’s cabin to look like an aircraft. This is largely thanks to the unique gearshift selector.
There is a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Changan had the screen specifically angled towards the driver for easier access, while the driver benefits from a fully digital instrument cluster.
The Uni-T is not just all looks, the updated SUV now comes with a ‘Superfast chip’, an AI technology system that would detect driver attention and fatigue. The latest update also included Face ID recognition that will pre-set the car’s various settings according to the driver who unlocked the car.
Safety equipment on the Uni-T is equally abundant as it features Level 3 autonomous driving thanks to adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning (LDW), and DBF parking assist just to name a few.
Even though there were talks that a new 2.0-litre turbocharge engine will be introduced in the update this year, Changan still offers the Uni-T with only one powertrain. The powertrain is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 188 PS and 300 Nm.
Think of the Uni-T as the first statement for Changan’s intentions to raise the game. The SUV is even slated to make a Pakistan debut in Q3 of 2022 while Changan Philippines has expressed a desire to introduce it to the country.
