Following the redesigning of the entire Escalade line in 2001 - featuring more Cadillac-alike exterior lines - GM also launched the ESV and EXT pickup versions. Both models were produced in Silao, Mexico. The latter was based on the Avalanche pickup truck and was fitted with a 6.0L Vortec V8 unit producing 345 hp. As compared to the standard model, the EXT featured a longer wheelbase and lacked some standard features like tire monitoring system or 20-inch chrome wheels. This version was discontinued in 2006, while replaced by the new generation Escalade EXT.
