The second generation of the Infiniti G coupe model was launched at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. The premium Japanese car maker brought an updated facelift, but also a new engine. The 3.5L V6 engine was replaced with the 3.7L V6 VQ37VHR, which offers a smoother engine operation and more accessible low end torque thanks to Nissan's new VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology. Thus the model's name was changed from G35 to G37 coupe. The car also received a new 7-speed automatic transmission with DRM (Downshift Rev Matching) feature.
