What Model of Car would you drive for the rest of your life?
I took about 2 seconds to decide which car I'd happily drive for the rest of my life: ,MK7 Golf R. We already owned a MK6 GTi when we looked at the new Golf R, and the second we pushed the start button on our test drive, I was sold. The sound is just gorgeous. Firstly, the power is ,insane,. The DSG really makes this car phenomenally quick. If I could quote from ,What is a DSG (direct-shift gearbox)? How does it function? A bit of statistical comparison: The DSG takes only about 8 milliseconds to upshift in comparison, the sequential manual transmission in the Ferrai 430 SF takes 60 milliseconds to shift, or 150 milliseconds in the Ferrari Enzo. The quoted time for upshifts is the time the wheels are completely non-powered. Golf R has many different performance modes, such as ,normal,, ,comfort,, ,ECO,, ,race,, and ,custom, mode. When the car is in race mode [the most fun, and the one we drive around in all the time] makes the suspension harder, the car is louder and a lot quicker [think ,Cheetah,]. But at the push of a button, and you're in 'comfort' mode and the car is as quiet as a ,kitten,! The ride is so smooth, and so quiet, you can hardly believe it's the same car. ECO mode preserves fuel and uses barely more than the Golf TSi [incredible] in fact, it uses less fuel than our other car, the 2014 Corolla! The adaptive cruise control is the ,best, on the highway, just set and forget about it. The emergency breaking has also saved our lives on more than one occasion. It's the little things that I also really enjoy, such as: The soft lighting in the foot wells, and blue LED strip lighting on the doors The headlights turn around corners, and they illuminate as soon as you indicate or start turning around a corner. You then have a 90 degree angle of light following your around the corner. I laughed at this feature until I drove at night time with it. Now when I drive our other car that doesn't have this feature, I really miss it. The passenger side mirror dips as you are reverse parking [so you can see the curb and you don't scratch your wheels. As soon as you put the car into reverse the volume on your music is lowered until you put the car into park. Hooks in the boot for your shopping bags. Admittedly, the GTi had a deeper boot and so bags hung better, but I guess that's the sacrifice you make for the all wheel drive. There are lots of other features, but I've just listed my favourites. The Golf R is really fun to drive, and it's almost impossible to push the limits of; it sticks to the road like no other. It parks like a dream, and there is actually quite a lot of space when you fold the seats flat in the back. There is nothing else I could want from a car. Arguably the best part of this car, is that you get someone pull up next to you at the lights, and they think 'oh, it's "just a Golf".. and boom, they're in your rear view before you know it. The look on their faces is, priceless,! No, I don't work for VW. I just really love this car!
What is the worst road accident you have witnessed?
Early 2018, I was driving 20 miles to pick up my uncle from the airport in Lebanon. ,Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport - Wikipedia,. It was in winter and the roads were wet, but it just stopped raining. Driving at arround 50 mph on the left lane side I was passed by 2 cars racing each others on the highway particulary this highway: The 2 cars were an MK6 VW Golf GTI and a modified 1988 BMW 325i which looked something similar to this: It is popular to see such old modified cars without any upgraded safety features except for the seats, and also the suspension not upgraded or very poorly upgraded. The 2 cars racing each others were going at arround 70 mph as I expected depending on the speed they passed me, and they were gradually speeding up. The VW was leading at this point, as the BMW got at arround 0.1 miles ahead of me, it was clearly in the middle lane of the highway, I noticed something strange happening at this point, quickly realising that the BMW was squidding. At this point the VW was no longer in my visual site. My focus was on that BMW. In less than 1 second, i have seen the BMW in a perpendicular position to the highway after squidding and immediately launched itself lightning fast towards the opposite highway where the cars go in the opposite direction. With no middle barrier or wall that split the highway into 2 halves as the picture shows you can imagine what happened next: The BMW hit a car from the opposite lane head to head and it was a new model Hyundai Tucson. At this point the BMW immediately cought fire and turned into a fireball, at least its engine bay. The BMW finally landed on the middle lane of the opposite side. The lady driving the Hyundai which was totally wrecked was hella shocked that after she opened the door she fell to the ground unhurt but obviously got the shock of her life. The air bags fully deployed saved her life litterally. At this point as i was passing in front of this mess people were rushing to help extinguish the fire in that BMW and try to help the 2 passengers trapped inside. Now i passed the crash and reached the airport, then i got a message from the traffic management organization’s app that 1 man was injured and 1 man died in a crash. Turned out to be the crash i have witnessed. People! Drive safely and always fasten your seat belts and stick to the speed limit! Do not ever race on highways! Be responsible!
Would having one old absorber (about 8 years old) and one new absorber (not sure when it was changed) at the front cause the car to pull towards the old absorber despite the car having good alignment?
These are my alignment specs for a Mk6 GTI. The entire front right suspension was replaced due to an accident from the previous owner, while the left side is still the original parts from the factory. If I hold the steering wheel straight, the car drives straight, but if I let it go the steering wheel tilts to the left and the car begins to drift to the left.
