Now that UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has finally launched the new 2022 Toyota Veloz, we can now pit it against its donor car, the equally-new D27A Perodua Alza. Exterior – Larger wheels, chunkier fenders, swaping fog lamps for LED DRLs Right off the bat, both MPVs, despite being manufactured at Perodua’s plant in Rawang, are designed very differently. With the waiting period for some new cars is stretching past the 6-month mark, many buyers have become rather impatient, and justifiably so. Take for example the 2022 Perodua Myvi. Book one today and you’ll be waiting up to 9.5 months before you can get the keys to your brand-new hatchback. If you thought that was bad, the waiting period for a Perodua Bezza stretches more than a year (13.5 months)! Our colleague, Zamil, who’s also an avid drifter just collected his brand new 2022 Perodua Alza 1.5 AV. Practicality, comfortability and reliability were the three things Zamil was looking for to replace his 30-year-old daily driver. During Zamil and the team’s drive to Kota Bharu, he was immediately sold as it checked all of these boxes and more. The Alza is doing really well with 51,000 units booked as of August and this is all done within 3 months after it was opened for booking. Also read: R

It’s the MPV season again, as Perodua brought out its brand-new 2022 D27A Perodua Alza into the MPV segment, reviving a segment that was stagnant for a period of time. And reviving the segment it certainly did, as more than 51,000 Malaysians put their money down for one, cementing itself as one of the most popular 7-seater MPVs in the country today. Image for illustration purpose Perfection is a word that is most commonly associated with that one meme from X-Men but it is also how we described the all-new 2022 Perodua Alza in our review. That said, there are a few shortcomings in the otherwise impeccable 7-seater MPV. One of those small niggles that we found in our review is the absence of telescopic steering and until today, not a single Perodua model comes with this feature. Interestingly enough, the Toyota Veloz which the Alza is based o

The 2022 Perodua Alza and upcoming 2022 Toyota Veloz are based on the same platform, share the same powertrain, and will be built by Perodua, in Rawang. However, with prices estimated at RM 95k, the 2022 Veloz costs some RM 20k more than the top-spec 2022 Alza, which might make you wonder - are 2022 Veloz customers paying for a badge, or is there more than meets the eye?
