The second-generation 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost is now officially on sale in Malaysia. The car is available in 2 wheelbase options, the standard-wheelbase model starts at RM 1.45 million while the extended-wheelbase will start at RM 1.65 million.
Keep in mind that the prices stated are before taxes and optional extras. RR allows customers to customise their Ghosts to their fancy with Rolls-Royce Bespoke.
Although the Ghost is still easily recognisable with its trademark Rolls-Royce design language, designers have completely recreated the car from the ground up. This is because RR finds that their new clients appreciate a minimalist, ‘post-opulent’ design.
The front of the new Ghost is an instant example of reduction. For the first time, the Spirit of Ecstasy is not surrounded by panel lines but rather stands within her own ‘lake’ of the bonnet.
Turning to the flanks, a single straight stroke is used to emphasise the car’s length. The lower ‘waft line’ borrows from boat designs and uses reflections to lighten the surfacing and create a pure, uncomplicated sense of motion.
The subtle near-square rear light graphic has been modernised with a slight forward tilt to keep things contemporary but with a new twist.
For the first time on a Rolls-Royce, the new Ghost has been given a unique, lighted front-end. 20 LEDs underneath the top of the radiator grille subtly illuminate the metal vanes to create a restrained glow.
On the inside, designers continued with the minimalist theme with the use of stitchwork to highlight the long and straight lines within.
A new illuminated Ghost fascia takes pride of place in the suite. To ensure that the Ghost wordmark is lit evenly, a 2 mm-thick light guide featuring more than 90,000 laser-etched dots across the surface is used.
This not only disperses the light evenly but creates a twinkling effect as the eye moves across the fascia, echoing the subtle sparkle of the Starlight Headliner.
Other than that, RR has also upgraded the doors to come with power assistance. The power motor is even fitted with G-sensors in each door to allow the same speed of door operation regardless of hill or driveway angles.
The new Ghost is powered by the Rolls-Royce 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine that produces 571 PS and 850 Nm. The engine is mated to a ZF 8-speed conventional automatic transmission that sends power to all 4 wheels.
Of course, being a RR, the Ghost is still specifically designed to give passengers the vaunted ‘magic carpet ride’ with the world-first ‘Planar Suspension System’. Combined with self-levelling, high-volume air suspension technology, the Ghost will still guarantee the renowned wafting experience.
Safety equipment includes:
- Laser headlamps with 600 m of illuminated range
- Vision Assist
- Day- and night-time wildlife and pedestrian warning
- Alertness assistant
- Panoramic view and helicopter view
- Active cruise control (ACC)
- Collision warning

- High resolution 7x3 head-up display
As mentioned, the Ghost is now available in 2 variants; a standard wheelbase and an extended wheelbase version. Known as the Ghost Extended, the longer variant offers 170 mm more space than the standard variant.
