A little girl in Kampung Delek Kanan, Klang, sustained heavy injuries when she was hit by a Perodua Kembara. The 5-year-old girl allegedly tried to cross the road without checking for cars.
New Straits Times (NST) reports that Perodua Kembara was driven by a 21-year-old woman who was travelling from Kampung Delek to Sungai Udang at the time.
According to South Klang district police chief Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli, the woman was driving home from work when the victim, who was standing by the side of the road, suddenly ran across the road.
Despite jamming on the emergency brakes, the driver was not able to avoid the child.
The victim was reportedly unconscious when she was rushed to the hospital for treatment. NST reports that girl sustained internal injuries and was transferred to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for further treatment.
Shamsul Amar confirms that the driver has lodged a police report on the incident and an investigation will be carried out under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
