Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the locally-assembled (CKD) 2022 Volvo XC60 facelift. Two variants are available at launch – B5 Momentum and Recharge T8 Inscription Plus. The B5 Momentum is priced at RM 292,266 and while Recharge T8 is priced at RM 325,449, prices are with SST exemption.
Previously, the XC60 T5 Momentum and Recharge T8 Inscription Plus were priced at RM 278,915 and RM 324,656 respectively.
Globally revealed earlier this year in March, the facelifted Volvo XC60 gets a subtly revised exterior design. The front bumper has more angular lines and the “fog light” housing at the sides extends vertically with a chrome piece slicing across.
On the Recharge T8, the lower section of the front bumper now has a chrome strip that runs full-width, tidying up the design. The vertical slats on the front grille are also redesigned. It also gets a new set of wheels, measuring 19-inch in size.
Over to the rear, the exhaust outlets in the rear are no more and there’s a chrome strip running across the bumper to match the front.
The Momentum variant gets a similar front and rear bumper design albeit without the chrome strips, and a different set of 19-inch wheels.
Powertrain in the XC60 B5 Momentum is a mild-hybrid 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 249 PS/350 Nm.
Meanwhile, the Recharge T8 gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged 4-cylinder engine powers the front wheels, making 320 PS/400 Nm. At the rear axle, there’s an electric motor that provides 87 PS/240 Nm, giving a combined output of 407 PS/640 Nm. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system now runs on Android Automotive OS, which comes with pre-installed Android apps like Assistant, Maps, Play Store, etc. It will receive over-the-air updates for everything from maintenance to completely new features, just like smartphones or tablets.
There's also Volvo Car App and Connected Services, which is an app that enables remote control of several car functions.
The rest of the interior remains largely the same; the Recharge T8 gets wood inlays and leather upholstered dashboard, Orrefors crystal gear knob, and the lovely Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
Other features include panoramic sunroof, head-up display, and 360-degree camera. The B5 Momentum omits these features, while the audio system is handled by Harman Kardon.
As with all Volvos, both variants of the 2022 Volvo XC60 facelift get the whole ADAS suite of IntelliSafe with AEB, LKA, CTA, BLIS, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, and Run-off Road Mitigation. There’s also Pilot Assist, a level 2 semi-autonomous driving feature which can give steering assistance from stationary up to 140 km/h.
The 2022 Volvo XC60 facelift comes with a 5-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, and 8-year/160,000 km warranty for the plug-in hybrid battery.
