Toyota Corolla Cross is Vietnam’s No.1 selling car for 2 months straight in Nov and Dec 2021

The Toyota Corolla Cross is a hit anywhere it goes, especially around Asia. It has been a success in Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan. In Vietnam, not only is it the country's best-selling SUV but the best-selling car for two months in 2021.

Never mind overtaking the Kia Seltos, the crossover even outsold the cheaper Toyota Vios! According to sales data compiled by Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), 3,346 units of the Toyota Corolla Cross were sold in November while a month later, that number increased to 4,466 units.

The reason for the Corolla Cross’ meteoric rise in the sales charts? Deals by dealers to clear out stock as well as incentives made by the state government. Hence, the last couple months of the year are usually the best time to get a brand-new car in Vietnam.

Vietnam's best-selling cars of the month range from a city car to a pick-up!

Throughout 2021, the top-selling car of the month switched between 5 cars which are the Mitsubishi Xpander (Jan), VinFast Fadil (Feb, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sept), Ford Ranger (Mar), Hyundai Accent (Apr, Oct), and the Toyota Corolla Cross.

VinFast EVs as shown at CES 2022

With VinFast announcing that it would stop selling vehicles powered by internal-combustion engine (ICE) to focus on electric vehicles (EVs) by the end of 2022, could we see an EV make it as Vietnam’s most popular car some time soon?
