Spied: Is this the Perodua-developed D92A 2023 Toyota Vios?

The Toyota Vios might be a popular model for the big T brand but it is due for a replacement. The catfish-looking update was a major change in design but the all-new D92A Vios could see more than just a design makeover.

As previously reported by Headlight Mag, the all-new Vios is expected to be launched in Thailand in Q3 2022 and could be built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform. So, could this fully camouflaged unit be the next-gen Vios?

Perhaps, but in the Kingdom, this would be badged as the Toyota Yaris Ativ/Yaris Sedan. These images were sent by a Headlight Mag reader and it shows a sedan fully clothed in black like a budget Batmobile.

Still, despite the extensive dark cowling all over the car, there are some design clues that could point it to the next-gen Vios. The overall shape has hints of inspiration from the Daihatsu DN F-Sedan Concept that was unveiled at the 2017 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.

The D92A codename itself is a Perodua format codename but let's leave aside the debate on whether P2 would be rebadging this.

Up front, the grille looks squarish, resembling the GR Yaris so the supposed next-gen Vios could have a sporty look. Based on one of the photos, the next-gen Vios could feature blind-spot monitors, a feature that is offered on the current Vios but could it be offering a hybrid option to compete against the City RS e:HEV?

However, can this new form of Vengence Vios be enough for Toyota to take back the title of Thailand’s best-selling B-segment sedan from the Honda City? We’ll have to wait and see until the camo is peeled off.
