The freshened 2021 Range Rover Velar 2.0L R-Dynamic is now in Malaysia, bringing with it a bag of goodies including a restyled interior (with updated creature comforts) and enhanced features all around.

Restyled cabin, new Pivi Pro, ARNC

Most of the changes happen in the cabin and under the unchanged exterior. The retouched interior sports a new gear shifter (replacing the previous rotary dial) and steering wheel, which gets integrated smart buttons and a hands-on wheel detection feature.

Meanwhile, the refreshed Velar also gains a new Pivi Pro infotainment software on its 10-inch dual-touchscreen. What's new here is further-customisable information displays, and the ability for users to connect two smart phones simultaneously.

Other than that, the Velar also benefits from Active Road Noise Cancellation (ARNC), to minimise noise seeping into the cabin.

New 3D camera, Wade Sensing

Beyond the cabin changes, the vehicle's driver assistance systems now come with a 3D surround camera, providing several views at the same time, including a 3D perspective new plan from above in addition to ClearSight Ground View.

The Velar also benefits from Wade Sensing. Using ultrasonic sensors in the side mirrors, it'll visually and audibly alert the driver if water approaches the vehicle's wading depth.

New Electronic Air Suspension

This round of updates also sees the Velar getting a new electronic air suspension with automatic height adjustament. The vehicle's height can be adjusted by +/- 50 mm to suit your needs, while the ride height drops by 10 mm when cruising above 105 km/h, which is said to reduce aerodynamic drag and thereby improve fuel efficiency.

Powertrain stays the same

Under the hood lies the same P250 powertrain, which makes 249 PS and a maximum torque of 365 Nm. Power is sent to all four-wheels (4WD) via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
