According to a Tweet by Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa, roadside parking in Kuala Lumpur will be free-of-charge, until 31-August. The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will waive parking fees.
He hopes that this move will save people some money, which they can use to buy essential items for their family.
PENGUMUMAN
There are roughly 46,100 roadside parking lots in Kuala Lumpur. According to The Star, this news caught DBKL by surprise, as they were not aware of this announcement. An unnamed official said that people have to wait for the ministry to provide more details.
Back in 2016, DBKL revised the parking charges for council-owned parking lots – motorists have to pay RM 2 per hour if they park in a hotspot area, such as within the central business district.
