Starting 11 March 2021, the compound for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) will increase from RM 1,000 to RM 10,000.
The announcement was made by the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador during a press conference in Bukit Aman.
Abdul Hamid confirms that the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 was gazetted beginning 12.01 am on 11 March 2021.
The decision to increase the price of the compound was made to remind the public that the Covid-19 virus is still at large and a serious threat.
Throughout the pandemic, Malaysians have grown desensitised over the threat of the virus, resulting in carelessness over their safety.
“If MCO imposed since a month ago is not complied with, the situation can change (from better) to worse at any time,” said Abdul Hamid.
There isnât a time in memory that doesnât involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenâs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
