The Tank 300 harks back to the old days when SUVs were proper off-roading machines with the retro boxy style and proper four-wheel drive (4WD) mechanicals. However, there will be a more potent version for those who think the 4-cylinder unit is not powerful enough.

Enter the Tank 330 with the 30 in the name implying the 3.0-litre twin turbocharged V6 engine under the hood. The 6-cylinder powerplant produces 360 PS and 500 Nm and is paired with a 9-speed automatic.

That output is a huge gain from the 227 PS/387 Nm max output of the 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-4 of the Tank 300. Still, it isn’t the torquiest Tank 300 as the hybrid version has a combined output of 351 PS and 615 Nm.

The Tank 330 comes with a more aggressive exterior design with a pair of extra bulges on the front bonnet. At the back, the SUV sports a red V6 badge on the right side of the tailgate.

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has not revealed the interior of the Tank 330 but Chinese media reported that it will be launched on 16 March with an estimated price of CNY 350,000 (~RM 228k). The Tank 300 range is priced between CNY 199,800 to CNY 226,800 (~RM 130k-148k).

While the Tank 300 was previewed to the Malaysian media ahead of its planned launch in Q3 2024, there is a very slim chance the Tank 330 will be offered outside of China.

Car News China reported earlier this year that the Tank 330 would only be limited to 1,000 units. Prospective buyers would have to put down a CNY 20,000 (~RM 13k) deposit with all allocations scooped up within 6 seconds of its online announcement.
