The Perlis State Road Transport Department (JPJ) recently conducted a trip to 4 car accessory shops around the Kangar area to perform spot checks. The owners were reminded to follow the Trade Description Laws.
The operation was led by Fatimah Mohamed Ali Piah, the director of the Perlis branch JPJ office. The checks were carried out as an effort to help prevent unsuspecting road users from having to pay hefty fines as a result of illegal accessories installation.

According to the JPJ Perlis’ Facebook post, many owners claimed they did not know they had installed illegal accessories in their cars. They added that they were drawn to the promotions and discounts offered by accessory shops.
They had assumed that the accessories sold at a shop would be legal items that have passed JPJ approval. They only found out that the accessories were banned items until they receive a compound by JPJ.
Other than the trip to 4 accessory shops, the JPJ team also conducted a trip to the quarries in Perlis to advocate the dangers of overloading lorries.
