The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is reportedly working on a new national mobile application or national super app that will be an all-in-one platform to access many government-related digital services. This will include renewal of driving licences and road tax as well as traffic summons payment.

In a statement released on 17-September-2021, MCMC confirms that the government, through the National Council of Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution (MED4IR), has approved in principle with a proposal to implement the platform on 22-April-2021.

MCMC believes that the new app will give users a seamless digital experience to accessing government digital services, selected private services, bill payments, birth and marriage, as well as paying traffic summonses and renewing driving licences and road taxes.

Now that the app has been given the green light, MCMC has set about getting the public involved with their views on the digital services the department has planned for the platform via a survey.

The survey will run for three weeks from 15-September to 6-October-2021. Everyone is invited to participate in the survey here.

Bernama reports that MCMC's main objectives of the survey were to introduce the concept of a national mobile application and scenarios of its potential uses in Malaysia.

They also want to know the views and potential adoption of the application across public and private sectors as well as identify factors that influence the people’s choice in using a national mobile application.

Other than that, they also want to assess further improvements on the delivery of government services to the people through the application.

Currently, although there are various online portals where Malaysians can easily pay their traffic summonses like the Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) MyBayar Saman portal and renew their road tax and driving licences on MySikap, but these are all individual platforms unconnected to each other.

The National Mobile Application plans to streamline all these platforms so Malaysians will only need to access one portal to complete all their government-related businesses.
