![Post-SST exemption, UMW Toyota sees normalization of sales, Q1 2024 down 7% from 2023 01]()
UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) continues its stellar monthly sales performance in 2024 with another positive sales growth in March. 9,688 vehicles were sold in Malaysia in the third month of the year, comprising 9,471 Toyotas and 217 Lexus.
It is a 29.5% increase compared to February which saw 7,480 units moved. UMWT sold 23,444 vehicles in the first quarter of 2024 (Q1 2024) which was a 7% drop compared to the same period last year (25,219 units).
It's worth adding that last year's sales figures were inflated by the rush to register cars before the SST exemption expires.

Still, compared to March 2023 (9,136 units), sales were 5.7% higher in March 2024. Last month's sales were also the highest of the year so far.
UMWT has not released a breakdown of its model sales figures for the month but last month saw the launches of the revised Toyota Hiace Panel Van and the all-new 10-seater Toyota Hiace Super Long Wheelbase (SLWB).
