What seemed like a relaxed morning cruise has turned into an expensive and painful wreck for one pristine Honda S2000 in Singapore.
According to the post shared on the Roads.sg Facebook page, the accident happened at an intersection along Lok Yang Way where the Honda S2000 was T-boned by a passing Toyota Camry.
The impact was great enough to send the two-seat roadster off the road until it came to rest precariously over a nearside drain. The driver also reportedly had a tough time getting out.
Honda S2000s have become highly sought after in recent years for their brand of undistilled driving balance and rarity.
The current boom in JDM vehicle collectorship has also sent prices soaring, prices for locally advertised units generally range between RM 200k and RM 300k depending on spec and condition.
Though damage seems to be minor on the driver’s side, the side impact has visibly destroyed the passenger side door and most of the underside body structure.
The Honda S2000 is one of the few rear-wheel drive models produced by Honda. Production spanned 10 years (between 1999 and 2009) divided between pre-facelift AP1 (1999-2004) and facelifted AP2 (2004-2009) versions.
The S2000 was powered by the 241 PS/208 Nm F20C 2.0-litre four-cylinder VTEC mill in the AP1, the engine was stroked to 2.2 litres in the F22C for more torque, producing the same 241 PS but 220 Nm in the AP2.
Power was sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
Arvind can't remember a time when he didn't wheel around a HotWheels car. This love evolved into an interest in Tamiya and RC cars and finally the real deal 1:1 scale stuff. Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
