The much talked about BYD Dolphin has been on the receiving end of a good ol' spearing by the sharp wit of the Brits.

Top Gear, in a global media test drive of the car recently, notes that while the car reaches high, it falters in the driving aspect. It's said that it "trades off any handling ability" for the suppleness, and like we noted in the Atto 3, its advanced driver aids (ADAS) is quite the chatterbox.

The Sunday Times' Driving, however, were more critical of the car's interior quality and ergonomics. They found fault with the hard-to-decipher buttons on the infotainment system, and as Top Gear were, irritated by the ADAS' incessant beeps and chimes.

Prices were a bit of a surprise too, with Top Gear calling the range-topper's £30,990 (~RM 181k) price tag 'dizzying', which is a bit further from what 'affordable electric car' ought to be.

Ultimately, how it performs in Malaysia is yet to be seen. All eyes will be on it as it makes its official launch here, in a tight space made even closer thanks to Tesla's recent introduction on our shores.
